One friend was doing the best work of their lives. Another friend celebrated 14 years with “his” company last month. Another friend just found out he and his wife were expecting their second child. And that’s when they all had the rug pulled out from underneath them when they were laid off from their jobs.

I’ve been there (more than once) and only wish I had someone like Laverne to listen and talk to. “It sucks, but I’m good…it’s just this business.” That was my attitude…denial. Take inventory of how you actually feel, surround yourself with support, it will make you stronger and more resilient.
