While things are moving in, what I feel is a forward progression it is slow. I do feel this imposter syndrome a lot. I am trying to change that. Old dog and new tricks.
Hey Dennis - I'm writing a piece for week four of the series about tackling IS. Curious what the IS voice is saying to you? Is the perfectionist, sololist or superhuman forms resonating for you? My lead imposer is the perfectionist, but I've got the other two tangoing as well.
I believe my "voices" tend to cover a little bit of everything, so it keeps me off balance. I seem to be a bit of a perfectionist, but also I get the "you aren't good enough" or "no one wants to hire you" voices happening. This is leading to some depression, too, so I need to keep going.
Ah, yes, those other two voices are gremlins for sure. As my business coach says, always look for the data to support or negate what the voices says to find a path forward.
Ah, the muscle of discernment. So important to grow and tone that one. Reading this helped me to see something I hadn't seen before. I too was an overachiever. I too received a warning about it. My literature teacher telling me I'd spread myself too thin. This gift of a piece you wrote, and this series you are working on, bringing this important work to us in an easy to grok manner, recognizing it for its impeccable value. Bite sized pieces of something really good can change our lives. It helps me see that my focus on reducing stress was a way of toning that muscle of discernment. What is of vital importance? I can find all sorts of 'busy work' to feel accomplished once achieved, but then my life didn't really change because the work wasn't that important. Easier to focus on busy work than to assess what's the real deal. For me. So easy to get lost in my head when it's tumbling loose with self-doubt and incrimination for not performing as expected so long ago. What I offer is of value? What is the key piece of my message that gifts another? I appreciate all you are putting into Moonshot Mentor!
I really appreciate what you wrote about busy work and how that didn't change things for you because it wasn't important. I think I get caught up in planning and making too many lists ... not sure. Will have to take a look at that. FWIW, you're so good at these gifts you don't know it! xoxo
