Hi friend.
Welcome back to Solid Ground. I know I say this every time, but I really am glad you’re here. The work you’re doing requires commitment and self-compassion. I see you, and I’m right beside you.
In the last module, you looked at the meaning you created regarding a professional loss or setback. For many people, that exercise can feel a little … confronting. The first time I did this exercise, my pits were sweating, and I had to do some box breathing.
If you’re like me, you see the sentence(s) on the page and think, wow… that’s what I’ve been telling myself?!
This month, we’re going one layer deeper so we can get to the source of those words. Which I promise is not the truth about you.
Module Six is about the voice that often delivers that meaning. The one that shows up right after something doesn’t go the way you expected… or right before you’re about to take a step that matters.
You’ve probably heard it.
“You should already know this.”
“This isn’t going to work.”
“Don’t put yourself out there.”
It can be blunt. Or it can sound reasonable. Even protective.
“Maybe wait a little longer.” “You don’t want to get this wrong.”
Different tone. Same effect. It slows you down. Or it stops you altogether.
You may have heard this referred to as negative self-talk. In Solid Ground, I call that voice a gremlin.
