How to Network After Losing Touch? 🤝

Steps to Reconnect

One of the most promising ways to find a new job or to pivot into a new industry is through networking — reaching out to people you know for informationals, advocacy, mentorship, and intel. But what do you do if you haven’t stayed actively in communication with your network? How can you feel comfortable reconnecting with people after a long time in order to get their support in your career?

These are questions that haunt all job seekers, but some people are better at ignoring the feelings of discomfort and can muscle through sending the email or making the call.

So what’s the difference between you and those people? Here are four possible reasons:

  • You make assumptions.

  • You listen to negative self-talk.

  • You make false promises to yourself.

  • You ignore your values.

Let’s take a closer look at each of these and how to navigate them so you can get back in touch with your network and get that new job.
