Announcing: Producer Group

An invitation to join a discreet and tightly-knit group

This is me as a baby producer in the 80’s. Love the fanny pack. I don’t recall exactly why my hand was on my head in a “oh no” gesture, but I’m sure it had something to do with losing a location, an actor not knowing their lines, running out of daylight … you know the drill. I do recall feeling very, very alone and scared trying to get productions off the ground creatively let alone completed on time and on budget. 

Throughout my career as a buyer and producer, I've longed for a circle of kindred spirits where I could openly share my vulnerabilities, learn, evolve, offer support, be a cheerleader, find solace in shared struggles, and celebrate well-earned successes. 

This past year, I piloted a group designed for independent film and / or television producers seeking a confidential and nurturing space to exchange expertise, grow as a leader, and tackle challenges creatively. The community comprises both experienced and emerging producers who have diverse backgrounds, from indie features to shorts to commercials. What unites us is our dedication to creativity, intelligence, courage, curiosity, and an unwavering commitment to personal and professional growth.

The pilot program was a great success with slates being formalized, pitches developed, talent attachments to projects, festival submissions as well as the shared challenge of navigating strikes and shifting mandates. We will continue the group through 2024, meeting twice per month on Tuesday mornings over zoom. Bonus: guest speakers throughout the year!
